The Verminators

Well the few perks of living in the redwoods besides the fresher air and leisurely pace of lifestyle also include the wide range of wildlife that we come across every day. There are the cute squirrels that climb the telephone poles, skunks that come out during the summer and skunk the dogs at night when they use the bathroom, and oh yes, don't forget the family of mice that are residing in our attic and walls. How Cute, Right??? I have to admit when Nathan told me that we are raising a family of mice in our attic I did get a little nostalgic, reminiscing about my childhood and how I raised pet mice, hamsters, and even rats. And overall, they were great pets. But when their in the spaces of your house, that you cant access and DIE from eating the poison that your husband has left out they STINK. Like Horrid Nasty Fish ,10 days old, left rotting in the sun at the wharf. Also after they die. Not only do they stink, but they create flys that are (Huge)Horse Flys from the maggots that grow from the carcases. It's totally gross batting the flys in the house away from your dinner at night knowing where those suckers came from. Blah, so this weekend Nathan and his dad Dennis went into the Attic and cleaned up the mousey compund and found two dead bodies (one with maggots) and a whole lotta poop and urine. I just wanted to share some photos below to illistrate:

So after a long day of removing the ruined insulation and spraying the attic with bleach they contacted and set up a appointment with the Exterminator for a complete inspection, deodorizing, and annihilation . Great Job this weekend guys, but let's leave this one to the professionals.
Oh the joys of home ownership!
